We had the good fortune of sharing the stage with the Murder City Devils on their recent romp down the west coast. The respect and admiration we had for these guys was high before, but is now way over the top after seeing them live this time. Rather than troubling you with my description of the show, i should just leave you with Spencer’s immortal comments to the audience just before they played, that: “art is made by faggots who aren’t afraid to get up in front of you LA jock motherfuckers.” Not afraid, indeed.

The short version of this story is the useful one: we played the last date of the tour in Baltimore, MD and the opening band centered around the preparation of delicious waffles onstage during mellifluous loops of vocals, pianos, and mallet percussion. They had a vibraphone. It was a bittersweet farewell to our companions, which was heavily mitigated by the fact that the above-pictured lady came down from new york to surprise me. I can ask for nothing.

This is a pulsating dance floor. We had no idea, but apparently when steve aoki plays motherfuckers go ape shit while fog machines shoot fog all over them. This happened in Charlotte, North Carolina. Home versus home. The following post is–not incidentally–a jumble. It contains the insides of several venues, idyllic scenes from at least three states, ’slices of life’ in the form of advertisements or religious edifices seen through an ironic eye. Forgive the disorganization, but this is sort of the natural out-of-order form things actually take after a while.
