Dazed Digital is hosting the premier of the 3-D video version of my track Freak-A-Zoid Robotz. They also included a quick interview.

Great minds think alike. This month, as Dazed releases the Another Dimension 3D issue, the progressive Echo Park-based hip hop producer Bobby Evans sees his robotic electro smash Freak-A-Zoid Robots twisted through a retro 80’s time warp with a 3D video. Directed by Marcus Herring (who recently worked with Roman Coppola on an intimate Sebastien Tellier film) as part of the Delicious Vinyl family, it’s Weird Science meets an Electroma neon escapade. Bobby Evans is also still working on new material with the creative mic talents of Jams F Kennedy, as LA low end rap duo Brother Reade (you must check 2007’s Rap Music, one of the best hip hop debut albums of recent years) as well as flexing his art and design skills with OBEY.

You can check out the full piece and video here.

Errol Morris has a blog on the NY times?  What could be better?  His journalistic take and style of film making has re-visioned the whole game.  Wonder if he’ll be so earth-shattering in the world of hypertext, jpgs, and editorial assertion?  My fingers are crossed.

GH1

Golden Hits at Family Bookstore. A carefully shaped, electronically generated trajectory of sound was created and appropriately accented by the micing and amplification of “literature noises”. Literally–if you’ll forgive the expression–the tearing of newspapers and the shuffling of pages of books.

I also got to pick up a copy of the new ASDSSKA 7″ (a band name which becomes way less complicated when you realize it’s David Scott Stone’s Initials forced in the middle of his bandmate Aska’s name). Look for a review of it soon.

Bobby Evans - Freak-A-Zoid Robotz Video + Them Jeans Remix

I’m pleased to debut the video for “Freak-A-Zoid Robotz” directed by Marcus Herring.

“Freak-A-Zoid Robotz” is the lead track and theme song from Delicious Vinyl’s critically lauded RMXXOLOGY album. The song itself is inspired by a truly obscure cut from deep in the Delicious Vinyl catalog: an electro-bass number called “The Fine Line Between Hyper And Stupid” that appeared on the b-side of Tone-Loc’s 1990 single “I Got It Going On”.

Hang on to your glasses from Captain EO cause a 3-D version will be out soon.

Freak-A-Zoid Robotz is available now in digital and Vinyl “12.

Also, Them Jeans put together a killer space disco version for the video release. Make sure to download it here for FREE. *Link has been re upped

From the Engine Collision Festival. We played in a medium sized room with a high ceiling and an excited group. The kicks boomed and the group cheered. Shout to Warpaint.

Band in DC

In Philadelphia there was something wrong with one of the turntables, so we had to create a new rendition of ‘like duh’ on the spot. We liked it, kept it, and Justin Hantz caught it on tape in DC.

It’s officially springtime here in Los Angeles, but since we don’t really have springtime, I figured we could just watch this video of Nick Dewitt interpret Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” (he does spring and summer). If you have the misfortune of living where they still have ‘weather’, don’t worry, eventually everywhere it will just be hot all of the time (which is ostensibly good practice for hell). Till then, enjoy.
